“I sought to hear the voice of God and climbed the topmost steeple, but God declared: “Go down again – I dwell among the people.”
— John Henry Newman
I particularly like this poem since it reminds me that we are doing so much for God but so little for people. Living in Texas I am fascinated by the amount of money spent on and in the Churches, Mosque, Synagogues and other places of worship. I was at a friend’s house and saw a picture of a Mosque in Dubai that will cost 1.5 billion Dollars WOW! I am not sure why we cannot use the same money to make God happy by helping people. Who are we trying to impress?
Have you seen the movie the Religulous by Bill Maher? He makes several points such as the one you made. He does take a very anti-religious view, but overall good movie
Yes I have in fact watched that movie but he is an Atheist and I am not. He is almost a radical since he doubts everything that religious minded people do. I just think that we should try to help the people who need and perhaps a better wealth distribution system. This way all peoples can enjoy a good life.
